As president of the Adair County Fair Board I want to invite everyone to experience our 117th Adair County Fair. We have one of the most attractive, efficient fairgrounds in Iowa giving us the opportunity to hold an amazing county fair. This year is no exception as we have a full week of activities planned beginning with the crowning of the 2013 Adair County Fair Queen on Wednesday evening to the Bill Riley Talent Show on Sunday at 6:00 p.m. in the 4-H/FFA Center.
We’re very proud of our 4-H and FFA members and their accomplishments. They have worked hard and are ready to exhibit their projects and the judging process in the livestock, cat, dog, poultry, and rabbit shows along with their communication skills and cooking ability in the Pride of Iowa Contest. You will also enjoy viewing many projects entered by Adair County residents in the Open Class Division as they exhibit their skills from taking fantastic photos or baking the perfect loaf of bread to the finest needlework.
New this year will be Bigger and Better inflatable rides for “All” ages. At noon on Saturday, (Kids Day) the Blank Park Zoo will give an hour long presentation about the animals they will bring from the Zoo. A tractor ride will start from the fairgrounds Saturday morning, return at 2:00 p.m. for a parade lap around the grounds, and park for an hour for public viewing.
Grandstand entertainment includes:
Thursday night: “Outlaw Truck and Tractor Pull”
Friday night: Supercross, ATV, and UTV Races
Saturday night: Demo Derby (with bigger purses)
Sunday night: Wright Rodeo Company
We are bringing back the popular Iowa Helicopter rides, Ranch Horse Rodeo, The Bill Riley Talent Show, and Maggie the Balloon lady.
Many dedicated individuals and organizations work together to organize our county fair. We thank the Adair County Extension office, all the clubs, organizations, businesses, volunteers, parents, and the county supervisors for their time, contributions, and support to help create a successful fair. Without their help, it would be impossible to show case such an impressive event. Please remember our contributors as you enjoy the fair this year.
